Job Purpose:
- Provide problem-solving leadership to combine deep market analysis and understanding of EcoCeres’ strategic goals to deliver actionable insights for both short-term operational decisions and long-term strategic initiatives
- Participate or lead diverse initiatives from operational improvement to strategic business development to support EcoCeres’ sustainable business growth
Responsibilities:
This role is part of a small but highly agile market intelligence team at EcoCeres. The candidate will be responsible for a combination of important routine tasks and strategic projects, depending on business needs:
Routine tasks
- Monitor global biofuel and feedstock markets, incl. peer updates, regulation changes, price movements, trade flows, technology developments, etc.
- Collaborate closely with other market intelligence team members and the broader EcoCeres organization to make sense of the information
- Build quantitative models in supply-demand, pricing, regulation fulfillment, etc. for global and regional markets
- Develop and continuously enhance reporting framework for key data, findings and recommendations
- Communicate to commercial teams and company senior leadership regularly to support short-term operational decisions across sales, production, procurement, etc.
Strategic projects
- Example topics include new market entry, feedstock expansion, new capital projects, business process improvement, business development, etc.
- Usually in collaboration with other internal teams such as sales, operations, procurement, R&D, finance, etc.; cross-culture and cross-geography collaboration is a norm
- Roles could be analyst, coordinator and eventually project leader across the end-to-end problem-solving process
- Support other ad-hoc requests from company executive team and shareholders
For more senior candidates, there is opportunity to coach and mentor junior team members early on.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 4-8 years of work experience at a top management consulting confirm, and/or a reputable company in strategy or business development related roles
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in any field from a reputable institution
- Open-minded to accept new challenges and adopt new approaches, while maintaining strong curiosity and determination to lead the organization to advance our understanding of this evolving industry
- Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills
- Hard-working while brutally practical and flexible
- Prior experience in biofuels (SAF, HVO), feedstocks (UCO, POME), carbon market or EU/US biofuel regulation a strong plus; prior experience in aviation, renewable energy or oil refining a plus
- Other basic toolkits for early success: Top-down and clear communications (verbal, email, PowerPoint), team collaboration, project management, senior stakeholder management (team leaders & company executives), modeling
- Language: Strong English fluency a must, other language (Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, any European language) a strong plus
- Occasional (~15%) business travel for conferences, projects, business development, etc.
